How much import duty is on my goods?

On most products imported into Australia, customs duty is 5% of the value of the goods converted to Australian dollars, but this is dependent on the type of goods and where they originate from.

Goods need to be carefully classified in the Customs Tariff to determine the duty rate applicable. There may be tariff concessions or exemptions we can use to legally minimise your duties and taxes.

For goods with a customs value of AUD1000 or less, there are generally no duties, taxes or charges to pay.

If the goods are being imported from a country that Australia has a Free Trade Agreement with then with certain declarations and Certificates of Origin they may be duty free.
